Las Vegas Soils The Las Vegas valley offers some interesting challenges to home builders. These days, most homes are constructed on a "post tension" slab which is designed to prevent cracking. Builders will also warn against over watering of flowers and plants near the home for fear of causing expansion of the soil. Some older neighborhoods in town, particularily on the east side of the Stratosphere Tower, contain expansive soils which can lead to excessive cracking of slabs, driveways and pool decks. Buyer beware. |
